Accelerate Weekly #92
Accelerate Weekly – Issue 92 (Week of September 29, 2025)
This week’s Accelerate Weekly opens with recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and encourages time for learning and reflection. In the field, the Farming Forward team shares an update from the Brazeau Drought Resilience Trial, where early fall assessments show how different seeding methods and blends are responding as the season winds down. The trial includes broadcast vs. drill-seeded drought-tolerant blends, with clear differences emerging in plant density, maturity, and root development.
Producers are invited to contribute to the AFSC Forage Pricing Survey, an important tool for improving Business Risk Management programs across Alberta. The issue also features an article on getting started with ag plastics recycling, outlining how producers can prepare materials such as grain bags, net wrap, and chemical containers for proper recycling, and where to take them.
Upcoming programming includes a Save the Date for Gathering Ground: A Producer Development Day, happening November 15 near Whitecourt. With hands-on breakout sessions, a keynote, and the Groundbreakers producer panel, registration opens October 7.
In this week’s Newsworthy Shares, readers will find updates on RDAR and the Emissions Reduction Alberta partnership to advance climate-smart agriculture, along with new research on faster cattle estrus detection using AI-enabled analytics. Community Shoutouts highlight the Government of Alberta’s Ag Plastics Survey and the upcoming Alberta Sheep Breeders’ Symposium, running October 16–18 in Camrose.
