Cattle Drone School

See what drones can do on the ranch

Join Farming Forward and LandView Drones for two full days of hands-on training focused on using drones in cattle and ranching operations.

Participants will explore how drone technology can help locate and monitor livestock, assess pastures, collect vegetation data and complete jobs that can be difficult or time-consuming from the ground. The school combines classroom learning with hands-on missions and plenty of time flying several different DJI drones.

What you’ll learn

  • How to use thermal and zoom cameras to find, monitor and count cattle

  • Drone mapping for pasture planning and management

  • Multispectral imaging and how to interpret NDVI and other vegetation data

  • Hands-on flying with DJI drones, including the Mavic 3 Thermal, Matrice 4 Thermal and Matrice 30T

  • An introduction to drone spraying and cover-crop spreading

  • Basic RPAS ground school and Transport Canada certification

  • Flight planning, safety and responsible drone operation

The school concludes with a hands-on Fly Day where participants will complete guided missions and build confidence operating the equipment.

Whether you are completely new to drones or already using one on the farm, this school will help you understand where the technology can save time, support management decisions and improve efficiency on your operation.
