Stalk Walk: Corn Tour

Corn Variety Tour & Silage Systems Field Tour

Join GRO and Farming Forward for an afternoon and evening in the field as we explore local corn research and compare practical silage systems for cow-calf operations.

We'll begin at GRO's local corn variety trial, where you'll have the opportunity to tour the site and hear about the research taking place this season. From there, we'll head to a local producers before making our final stop at Farming Forward's Silage Systems demonstration.

At the Silage Systems site, Dr. Bart Lardner and producer Byron Long will lead a walk-and-talk through the project, discussing the five silage systems being evaluated and what we're seeing in the field so far. Learn how the different systems are designed to compare forage quality, feed value, supplementation requirements, and overall winter feeding strategies, while exploring the demonstration firsthand.

Dinner will be provided, with plenty of time for questions, discussion, and networking throughout the evening.

We hope you'll join us for good conversation, great food, and a chance to see both projects firsthand.

The tour will begin at the Barrhead Agrena, where we'll board the bus before heading out!
