Accelerate Weekly #90

Accelerate Weekly – Issue 89 (Week of September 8, 2025)

This week’s Accelerate Weekly highlights the end of Farming Forward’s summer event season and tomorrow’s What a Waste Seminar & Webinar in Blue Ridge. Producers are invited to join in person or tune in online from the field. The event covers practical approaches to managing carcass disposal, reducing on-farm plastics, and addressing wildlife conflict, with expert presentations and a panel discussion.

The newsletter also features a new carcass composting infographic, outlining inputs, steps, and the benefits of turning losses into usable compost. With fall planning underway, RDAR’s OFCAF program is highlighted as a resource for Alberta producers exploring cover cropping and soil improvement options.

Members are welcomed to celebrate the return of Jessica in a new role as Assistant Manager after maternity leave. The issue also shares a hands-on winter feeding idea: indoor fodder systems, with examples from Titan Ranch and Warrior Rizen Ranch showing how small- and large-scale setups can supplement livestock diets when pasture is limited.

Additional curated resources include a podcast on rural entrepreneurship, an article on how climate change is affecting Alberta’s agriculture sector, Jim Gerrish’s discounted grazing training, the Young Agrarians Business Bootcamp, and details for the 2025 Alberta Sheep Breeders’ Symposium. The issue wraps up with membership reminders and ways to connect with the Farming Forward team.
