Accelerate Weekly #97
Accelerate Weekly – Issue 97 (Week of November 3, 2025)
This week’s Accelerate Weekly shares a brief update as the Farming Forward team heads to ARECA Fall Training, where forage and applied research associations across Alberta meet to collaborate and strengthen skills that support local producers. While the office is closed for two days, the team remains available by phone and email as they can.
The countdown is on for Gathering Ground – A Producer Development Day, with final ticket sales closing Friday. The issue highlights the full program: a keynote on farm succession with Annessa Good-Hassard, breakout sessions on market risk, livestock technology, and seed testing, plus a producer challenge and a panel featuring three Alberta farm entrepreneurs. A mini-tradeshow will also showcase Gallagher eShepherd and other ag businesses.
Other features include an overview of Alberta’s future in agriculture, shared during Environmental Farm Plan Technician Training by former Deputy Minister John Knapp, emphasizing the province’s strengths in soils, water, and stewardship. Producers are also reminded to prepare for 2026 funding opportunities by updating their Environmental Farm Plans and beginning grazing plans early, especially for programs reopening in February.
The issue rounds out with details on upcoming Environmental Farm Plan workshops, winter spoilage prevention resources from Canola Watch, a market outlook on replacement heifers, a rescheduled mental health workshop, the Young Agrarians mentorship program, and registration information for the Ag Drone School — a hands-on training opportunity for mapping, range planning, and herd scouting.
