Accelerate Weekly #98

Accelerate Weekly – Issue 98 (Week of November 10, 2025)

This week’s Accelerate Weekly shares important updates ahead of Gathering Ground, taking place this Saturday. With ticket sales now closed, producers are encouraged to contact the team directly if they hope to secure a last-minute cancellation spot. The newsletter also notes that the office will be closed on November 11 in recognition of Remembrance Day.

To mark the occasion, the issue features a tribute to the Soldiers of the Soil—the young Canadians who supported the home front during the First World War. More than 22,000 boys and teens volunteered on farms through the federal program, alongside thousands of young women known as the Farmerettes, who stepped into planting, picking, and harvest roles to keep the food supply moving. Their contributions highlight the many forms of service that sustained the country during wartime.

The newsletter also recaps the recent ARECA Fall Training in Westlock, where seven member associations came together for two days of collaboration, safety discussions, facility tours, and professional development. Highlights included visits to Gateway Research Organization’s research sites, the new Westlock Seed Cleaning Plant, and the Tractor Museum, along with role-focused breakout sessions to strengthen Alberta’s applied research network.

Additional updates include information about ARECA’s role in supporting regional research, tips on potential SR&ED and Innovation Employment Grant tax credits for on-farm research, and reminders about upcoming Environmental Farm Plan workshops in Whitecourt and Wildwood. The issue closes with new learning opportunities, including the national Agronomy Resources Survey, winter feeding strategy guides from BCRC, Agscent’s breath-analysis technology, the ABP Young Creators Contest, and the upcoming Chicken 101 Workshop in Sherwood Park.
